Another Day: Another Pair

These shoes are kind of insane, but they represent all that is great in the world of collaborations. Part of the Kirna Zabete for Nine West partnership, the Soho designer emporium has lent their expertise to a range of Nine West-approved soles and the result are bow-bedecked and ribbon-strewn shoes that are super femme. I think these would be super cute for summer with a head-to-toe chambray and denim look or with a white sundress and the perfect jean jacket. They're all the statement you need.

Need-Them-Now Soles

The slipper saga continues for fall with a really authentic, almost vintage-looking turkish rug swathed smoking slipper that's begging to be worn come September. Paired with a ton of denim or a thick chunky knit and ankle length skinny jeans I'd make these my favorite pair. There's something about the color and how it's been slightly muted thanks to the texture--they're perfect.

SPOTTED: Etoile Isabel Marant for Fall

Everyone dies for Isabel Marant but her younger, just as chic sister label serves the same purpose with each new season. For fall I'm digging the classic wardrobe staples with a twist. I've got a closet full of button-downs but none with Victorian ruffle detail like this one. Worn for fall with sleek black denim and oxfords (or better yet, penny loafers), this shirt is a dream. Naturally, Isabel Marant continues to redefine what's cool.

Street Style Inspiration of the Day

Crop tops legit scare me. I just can't expose that much skin. But there is a way to beat the heat and keep things cool with kind of a modified version. Much like the '80s when you'd tie your shirt in a loop or slip the ends through a shirt clip, knotting the bottom is a great way to accommodate the weather. Shown here, this grey tee is oversized enough that there's plenty of fabric to tie off and the skirt comes just high enough so that she's not showing too much but still keeping cool. Great look for hot summer days.

New Brand To Watch: Mansur Gavriel

Bags are becoming increasingly fussy with hardware, straps, details, branding and excess accessories that all tend to cloud the actual design. So when something downright streamlined comes along, it seems like a breath of fresh air. Enter Mansur Gavriel, in their first season of production and already a standout favorite. Full of fully functional, wearable colors that will never tire, these sophisticated and sleek bags are the type you'd want to bring to work, but wouldn't mind toting around afterward.

Inside Tamara Mellon's Closet

I guess go big or go home, right? That's certainly the motto for Tamara Mellon, the former head of Jimmy Choo as she takes Vogue on a tour of her closet. WHOA

Borrowed From The Boys

Looking through all the street style pics from Paris and there is undoubtedly one trend that struck me as pervasive. More and more women were walking around wearing menswear-style fabrics (think wools and tweeds), bowties and ties, and generally just leaning toward menswear cuts. While at first I didn't care for the look, now it's looking better and better. Seen here with cuffed pants, it's got a charm to it that a dress just can't offer.

The Cool Classic: The Fisherman Sweater

As if I needed any more proof, the fisherman sweater continues to make its mark--even during summer. Worn on those brisk seaside nights, the cream colored pullover adds a perfect pop of prep with just about anything. From aviators and ripped boyfriend jeans to leather leggings and prim ballet flats, this is going to be one of the most versatile things you'll own.

Street Style Inspiration of the Day

I'm really into this look. I thought color-blocking was on its way out, but I think when it's done subtly, almost tonally, it's still very in. This shows two very disparate ways to wear two tones, one in a graphic pattern up top and the other in a color blocked cropped pant on bottom. The shoes are simple enough that they'll go with anything but they still caught my eye. And that bag! Talk about the perfect Summer to Fall transition piece!

Watch Now: Alexa Chung Dishes Style Tips

I'm not quite sure if she's someone I'd style stalk, but Alexa Chung seems to resonate with most people my age as someone who's got it figured out. She sat down with MyTheresa, a supercool Euro etailer to dish on her style secrets. We listen with bated breath.

Mixed Materials

I went through a phase earlier this summer where I needed a white blazer. Well, I never got one but this shot is showing me just how versatile it would have been. Here it's making its way right into fall paired with a few sturdy textures, one an ethereal striped peekaboo top and the other a croc-embossed mini skirt. None of them I'd think to put together but with the pristine white double breasted blazer topping them both, they seem to even out. Plus it makes them just a little bit less risque.

How To: Make The Most of Grey Days

The amount of grey I have in my closet is exceedingly terrifying and somehow I always manage to acquire more. But how to make it more interesting on days when you need a bit of bright? This outfit sure seems to fit the bill, especially on a sunny summer day. You start out on a cooler morning with a lightweight grey knit and pair it with bright turquoise print pants, some chunky mismatched jewels, silver-is-the-new-neutral flats and metallic aviators that will instantly elevate your street cred. It's not too prim and yet somehow proper for meetings and the like.

Collab Alert: Alternative Apparel + Urban Outfitters

I spent college loving Urban Outfitters (nearly every break in between class, I'd wander through their racks), and credit Alternative Apparel with creating one of the softest pair of sweats I own. So when they team up? It's an ode to everything I should--and know I will--love. They've come up with a range of back-to-school basics that updates AA's great basics with a bit of UO's quirky charm (think duck prints and baseball tees). Time to stock up and stack 'em up.

Street Style Inspiration of the Day

This makes me ready for Fall. The combo of the silk top and leather skirt. The combo of the equally daring slits on both that show plenty of skin despite the dark palette. The amazing shoes with a touch of blue to keep things still fresh and not too dark (I'd argue the outfit's even wearable now), this is why Fall is so great. This would be the perfect outfit to transition into September with, still showing skin but paying close enough attention to the next set of trends.

Inspirational Viewing: ODLR, An American Icon

Quite the legend, Oscar de la Renta has just opened Oscar de la Renta: American Icon, an exhibit at the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas. The accompanying video that his team put together is every bit as charming and enchanting as the designer, himself.

NEW: Joie Launches Jeans

Back in college, these pants were my jam. Back then, Joie was known for their pants, their skinny cargo fits in particular. Now they've become an all-encompassing lifestyle brand that makes the most amazingly ethereal designs season after season but to add to the allure, they've just launched denim. And among those enviable fits (including a high-waisted skinny, a flare and a bootcut) is that good ole skinny cargo that put them on the map. Excited to get back into them with a vintage tee and some lace up sneakers for casual days.

How To: Pattern Play

The couture shows are going on in Paris right now which means there's plenty of street style stalking to be had. This one is a personal fave because it's still summery in execution but it's pretty polished too. It's got the same pattern on top and bottom but because they're not exactly lined up it still seems separate and not too matchy matchy. I particularly like how the gold matching bangles match the ankle straps and give a nice contrast to the red and navy palette.

Dream Date: Alexis Bittar and Phillip Lim

Now if this isn't a match made in heaven. Somehow I missed the memo when it came out that Alexis Bittar had designed some pretty rad chandelier earrings for Fall 2013. With a sweeping fan design they set so nicely against a backdrop of dark auburn hair. Now, the designs are almost here. Set to launch this month, I hope it's the beginning of a beautiful friendship--and certainly a collector's item.

NEWS: Mary Katrantzou for Repetto

I'm a devout loyalist to Repetto flats. Aside from being French (something appealing in and of itself) they're simple enough to slip on with anything, make the feet look dainty, and let me live out my biggest ballerina fantasies with just a few steps. The storied brand has now partnered with of-the-moment British designer Mary Katrantzou to have her swath their flats in her mesmerizing prints. The results are graphic and waiting for my twinkle toes. Available soon.
